Join us for a special LSP Community Meeting featuring author and LSP friend Thomas Thrailkill, author of Murder on the Macon Road.
Thrailkill’s journey back to Memphis began with the discovery that his great-grandfather—a Memphis City Detective in 1917—had been involved in the investigation of Antoinette Rappel’s murder and the subsequent forced confession of Ell Persons. Generations later, this revelation led Thrailkill on a powerful pilgrimage to the Ell Persons lynching site, guided by members of the Lynching Sites Project and inspired by the words of Ida B. Wells: “The way to right wrongs is to turn the light of truth upon them.” Thomas Thrailkill’s experience at the Ell Persons lynching site led to the writing of Murder on the Macon Road.

This meeting will include conversations and Q&A with Tom, and copies of his book will be available for purchase. Tom has graciously offered to donate the proceeds of the book sales at Monday’s meeting back to LSP.
