In 1619 the first African American indentured servants arrived in the American colonies. Less than a decade later, the first enslaved Africans were brought into New Amsterdam (later, New York City).
Hattiloo has curated an eight-month long commemoration called 'Lest We Forget'. It's a commemoration of the 400 years African Americans have been on this land we now call the United States of America. Using theatre, film, scholarship and music, we have assembled a series of free Monday events that speak to the triumphs and the struggles of African Americans. Reservations are recommended. You can make your reservation today by emailing Elizabeth Baines at events@hattilootheatre.org. Please limit reservations to four people.
