Confronting a Southern White Past

Two southern natives, Edward Ball and Karen Branan, discovered dark truths about their ancestors that became the substance of powerful books. Ball's "Slaves in the Family" unravels a tale of a family that owned thousands of slaves, while Branan's "The Family Tree: A Lynching in Georgia, a Legacy of Secrets, and My Search for the Truth," follows her journey to uncover a hideous crime. Join them for an intimate conversation, moderated by New York Times journalist Rachel Swarns.
